Steven Johnson has over 31 years of Mold Maintenance Experience. He also works as a mold maintenance engineer for a pharmaceutical and a leading hospital products company. His previous experience includes 24 years as a toolmaker at Calmar, redesigning, repairing and rebuilding close-tolerance multi-cavity molds. He served four years in the U.S. Navy training reservists as a jet mechanic on the A4L Skyhawk.
He is currently writing a book on establishing and operating a pro-active tool room. He majored in mechanical engineering at Southern State University and he has also written articles for Injection Molding Magazine and MoldMaking Technology Magazine.
Johnson, who authors articles for plastics technical magazines and conducts mold maintenance seminars around the country, is also a journeyman cabinet maker whose work has been featured in Fine Woodworking Magazine.
For his seminars, Steve has built a cherry wood replica of an injection mold, which he uses in his classes for demonstration and mold tear down.
